TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB

Two Door Cinema Club’s debut album, Tourist History (2010), was indie pop. a hyper-energetic, all-is-good formula at a time when the music landscape desperately needed a dose of pure, unadulterated fun. It felt like effortless caffeinated verses, a gift of dopamine that amplified. The album cut through a dark post-punk revival. Two Door Cinema Club bypassed angst, heartbreak, political dread. It broke the spell of a tired and dense pretentious sameness. It was fresh, maybe a summery that soundtracked the optimism that moved us out of 2008 and into 2010’s- a feeling that things could get better. In a way, we are moving into this cycle now. Somethings come back to us, like sprials, evergreen.
