GIRL SCOUT
A Band that Can't be Pigeonholed <3
The magic of Girl Scout is the fact that they write cathartic songs joyously- there’ s humour in the alienation and emotional distance of their process. It’s the fact that they were able to hone their craft in the pandemic, dig deep into they wanted to be, experiment write a ton of songs that weren’t good before arriving to THEIR SOUND, discover the thread of the songs they believe should released, and now be a band with a cool name that tours like it's inevitable. Like they have accepted their mission. Like they absolutely know that this is the life the've being given. Their songs are tales of normal things- like having anxiety, worrying about being an outcast, the fear of falling behind, the pressure of succeeding- and what does success even mean? There’s hope in between lines, vulnerable yet grounded, unafraid of the uncool details. Songs fall from the sky and are shaped into loosely indie rock and power ballads- that occasionally overlap. Without wanting to “pigeon hole" their music, it might be best o acknowledge that every song is allowed to go wherever they want to go, be what they want to be. Can you follow a song's lead? It's very exciting to know they are out there, catching songs in the air- now.
